Privacy and data use
COSMOS is a free scientific explorer. No account or payment is required to explore it. This notice describes the application’s current data practices, not a promise that internet hosting never processes connection data.
Application usage events
The application sends limited events to its own /api/analytics endpoint: for example a selected object category, a declared page topic, an exploration scale, a share action or interest in one of the products explicitly discussed in a guide. Referring websites are classified in the browser into broad categories such as organic search or direct traffic; the raw referrer is not included in these event payloads.
The event sanitizer rejects arbitrary text, raw search terms, email addresses, URLs, payment information and visitor identifiers. These events use no analytics cookie or persistent visitor ID. Identical events are throttled, and each page load is capped at 100 events. Product-interest clicks are not evidence of a purchase or revenue.
Current product events are written to server logs, not a customer database. The application does not provide a persistent cross-session identity or an owner revenue dashboard. Hosting-provider log retention and infrastructure processing are separate from the application’s event schema.
Cloudflare Web Analytics and privacy choices
Production also includes Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate website measurement. Cloudflare describes this service as cookie-free. It is a separate service from COSMOS’s product-event endpoint; consult Cloudflare’s documentation for its collection and processing practices.
COSMOS suppresses both its product-event sender and its Web Analytics loader when the browser exposes Do Not Track as enabled or Global Privacy Control. Browser privacy tools may block measurement independently. You can still use the explorer when analytics requests are blocked.
For owner or development testing, open COSMOS with ?qa=1. When session storage is available, a single opt-out flag keeps subsequent pages in that tab out of both collectors. It contains no visitor identity and is not transmitted. Close the tab to end the session, or use ?qa=0 to clear the flag; browser privacy signals still apply. If storage is blocked, keep ?qa=1 on each test page. This affects COSMOS measurement, not hosting or the separate AdSense discovery request.
Hosting, assets and external links
ChatGPT Sites hosts the website, with Cloudflare services supporting delivery and analytics. Network requests necessarily disclose connection information such as an IP address to the receiving infrastructure. Scientific imagery or data may also be fetched from the source services documented in Data sources. Application-event minimization does not mean those services receive no network metadata.
Manufacturer and source links leave COSMOS. The destination’s privacy terms then apply. Product links in the current observing guides contain no affiliate tracking parameters and use a no-referrer link policy.
Advertising, payments and contact status
The owner has verified COSMOS with Google AdSense and requested site review. The official Google AdSense script is loaded for publisher discovery; this makes a request to Google, whose privacy terms apply to its processing of connection and browser information. Site approval is pending, COSMOS ad placements remain disabled, and no affiliate commission integration is enabled. COSMOS does not collect card details. Serving ads later requires approval, appropriate consent controls and separately verified article-only placements.

Do not send passwords, payment information or sensitive personal data. The explorer search field is not a contact form.
